The project consortium
Gdańsk University of Technology, the Project Promoter, is the largest technical university in northern Poland. It has specialized in tire/road noise since 1978 and tire rolling resistance since 1988. The research team involved in the project, with an extensive international research experience, will use advanced laboratories, including noise testing trailers and a unique rolling resistance trailer. Facilities include roadwheel setups with replica surfaces, one in a thermostatic chamber for tests from -15°C to +35°C.
Grolimund + Partner AG, the Project Partner, is a Swiss leader in environmental engineering with 40 years of experience, focused on environmental noise control. Its 75 engineers specialize in low-noise road surfaces and tires, using advanced 3D technologies for testing. They also address energy efficiency and climate change adaptation, contributing significant expertise in sustainability and technological advancements.
EKKOM Sp. z o.o., the Project Partner, is a Polish SME with 24 years of experience, focused on environmental protection, particularly traffic noise mitigation. It conducts environmental studies and GIS analyses and maintains an accredited noise measurement laboratory. EKKOM engineers have developed numerous guidelines for environmental studies in Poland and provide engineering documentation for road infrastructure and traffic engineering.
These organizations, bilaterally cooperating since over 20 years, form a powerful consortium with complementary strengths. Gdańsk University of Technology offers advanced research and state-of-the-art facilities. G+P Engineers provides practical experience and cutting-edge technologies for low-noise solutions. EKKOM contributes comprehensive environmental studies and implementation guidelines. This synergy ensures a robust approach to achieving project goals, leveraging each organization's expertise.
